Low water pressure in a Salinas home usually comes from a failing pressure regulator, a partly closed valve, scale-restricted pipe, or a service line problem — not from needing a booster pump. We measure static pressure first, because installing a booster on a restricted line makes the problem worse, not better.

Low pressure feels like one problem but has several distinct causes, and they cost very different amounts to fix. A failing pressure regulator is a modest repair. A partly closed main valve is free. Scale-restricted galvanized pipe is a repipe. A failing service line is excavation. A genuinely low supply from the street is where a booster belongs.

The measurement takes minutes. A gauge on a hose bib gives a static pressure reading, and comparing that against flow at fixtures separates a supply problem from a restriction problem.
